Never Miss Another Locksmith Call: AI Call Handling That Works 24/7
Advanced AI technology that answers every call, day or night, with a natural, human-like voice. Bilingual, intelligent, and never takes a break. See how it works.
The Emergency Lockout Problem
Emergency lockouts happen 24/7, but your answering capacity doesn't. Every missed call is a job you might have booked—and a customer who may call your competitor next.
❌ Without AI
- •After-hours calls go to voicemail
- •Callbacks happen whenever you get to them
- •Customers keep calling other locksmiths while they wait
- •Jobs can go to whoever answers first
- •A message-only answering service can't quote your prices
- •Technicians woken up for every inquiry call
✅ With TheKeyBot AI

- •Instant automated quotes based on your pricing
- •Smart dispatch to nearest available technician
- •Emergency calls answered 24/7/365
- •Only wake technicians for confirmed bookings

Work out what your missed calls cost
The arithmetic is simple, and your own numbers are the only ones worth using
Four inputs decide the answer: how many emergency calls you get in a week, what share of them currently go unanswered, what an average job is worth to you, and what share of the calls you do answer turn into paid work. Multiply them together and you have your monthly leak. Set that against the subscription cost and the decision usually makes itself.
Two cautions worth taking seriously. Your booking rate on recovered calls will look like your booking rate on current calls, not 100% — some callers are price-shopping, out of area, or spam. And an AI receptionist answers every call, which is not the same as converting every call. Anyone modelling this as full recovery is selling you something.
Run it on your own numbers rather than ours — the calculator does the arithmetic and shows its assumptions.

The shops that get the most out of an AI receptionist all do the same handful of unglamorous things during setup.
- ✅ Upload a detailed price sheet so the bot states your real prices instead of deferring every quote
- ✅ Set dispatch rules that route by technician location, so the nearest truck gets the job
- ✅ Enable SMS payment collection so after-hours deposits can be captured on the call
- ✅ Connect your CRM so leads land where you already work rather than in a second inbox
- ✅ Tune the script to your own brand voice, service area and escalation rules
None of that takes long, and skipping it is the most common reason an AI receptionist underperforms: a bot with no price sheet and no dispatch rules is just a message-taker. If message-taking is all you need, KeyBot Lite is $149 a month and does exactly that — and your first 5 answered calls are free.
Emergency Lockout AI FAQs
When does TheKeyBot answer emergency lockout calls?
Whenever they come in: 24/7/365, including nights, weekends and holidays. There's no hold music, no voicemail and no call queue. Even at 3 AM on Christmas, your customer talks to a receptionist that can help.
Can the AI provide accurate quotes for different vehicle types?
Yes, on Core and up. You upload your price sheet during setup with pricing for different vehicle years/makes/models and key types. The AI quotes from it automatically based on the customer's specific vehicle, so the quote is the price you set. (KeyBot Lite doesn't build quotes from vehicle details or book jobs; if you add a price list during setup, it can state the exact prices you confirmed.)
What if my pricing isn't in the system for a specific vehicle?
You can set fallback pricing rules. For example: 'For any 2020+ vehicle not in the database, quote $185 for standard key and $275 for smart key.' The AI uses these rules to always provide a quote.
How does the AI determine which technician to dispatch?
You set up routing rules based on: technician location (GPS), availability status, skill level, and workload. The AI automatically assigns the job to the nearest available qualified tech and sends them an SMS with all details.
Can customers pay deposits through the AI?
Yes. TheKeyBot can text the customer a payment link to collect a deposit before dispatch, so you're not sending techs on wild goose chases. Payments run through TheKeyBot's built-in POS + payments.
What happens if the customer needs something unusual?
The AI is programmed to recognize complex situations (locked child in car, broken key in ignition, etc.) and can either collect detailed information for callback or transfer directly to a live technician for immediate assistance.
Does the AI work with my existing CRM?
TheKeyBot has its own built-in CRM, and every call is logged there automatically with full details: customer info, vehicle details, location, quote, and call recording. Core and up also include QuickBooks sync. If you use another system, ask us on a demo what it connects to.
How long does setup take for emergency lockout handling?
It depends on how much you set up. You'll need to: upload your price sheet, set dispatch rules, record your custom greeting, and test a few calls. Our team handles the technical integration. If you only need message-taking, KeyBot Lite goes live in about 10 minutes.
Can I customize how the AI handles urgent vs non-urgent calls?
Absolutely. You can set priority rules. Emergency lockouts (especially with children or safety concerns) can be flagged for immediate technician notification or live transfer. Non-urgent calls can be scheduled for next available time slot.
What if a customer calls back asking for updates?
The AI recognizes returning callers and can provide status updates, for example: 'Your technician Mike is 12 minutes away.' It pulls real-time data from your dispatch system to give accurate ETAs.
